Key: Step 938. Orthocladiinae 349 Cricotopus

938a. Tergites III-V with the median and posterior transverse bands completely fused; on tergite VI these bands are joined medially to produce a wine glass shaped patch (rarely on both sides of the posterior adhesion marks as well), the points of the median bands in this tergite grading into the antero-lateral shagreen. Antennal sheath base a little swollen, rounded, smooth.

Step 939. Orthocladiinae 350 Cricotopus

938b. Tergites III-V with the median and posterior transverse bands rarely joined completely, usually narrowly separated for at least part of their breadth (090l.jpg); on tergite VI, if the median and posterior bands are joined, it is on each side, not in the middle, the points of the median band noticeably larger than the antero-lateral shagreen. Antennal sheath bases with an obvious conical, somewhat granular mound. Note Or349.
