Hydrobaenus cranstoni

Diagnosis (Type material)
Exuviae 4.6mm long.
Cephalothorax: Frontal setae on frontal apotome. Thoracic horn 350µm or more long, small-toothed, horn not bifid or strongly jagged at apex.
Abdomen: Dorsal anterior transverse apodeme of segment II colourless medially, giving the appearance of being incomplete. Tergites without a median transverse row of strong points. Tergites III-V between the dorsal setae with more or less evenly distributed small points, which are gradually a little larger posteriorly on each segment. Three or four lateral setae on segments II-VI, not taeniate; VI with 2 to 4 lateral taeniae. At least one lateral seta on segment VII, and all those on segment VIII taeniate.
Anal segment: Fringe taeniae short, weak, flexible, inserted in a nearly regular row continued to the bases of the three anal macrosetae; longest taeniae about 70µm long, 3.5µm wide. Genital sheaths without an apical papilla.
