Paratrichocladius micans

Diagnosis (Material in coll. ZSM)
Exuviae 3.1-3.6mm long (n=3).
Cephalothorax: Frontal setae absent. Thoracic horn 25-68µm long (n=4), variable in shape from smooth oval to elongate with a few apical teeth (087c.jpg); ThR 2.0-5.0 (n=4). Dorsocentral setae without great differences in breadth, seta 2 closer to 3 than to 1.
Abdomen: Length hook row II 0.28, 0.32x width tergite II (n=2); hooks 30-43 (n=4) in two rows with the third row represented at most by one or two hooks. Tergite II with a distinct transverse point patch, widely separated from the posterior transverse band or joined to it on each side of mid-line (087b.jpg). Pedes spurii B II and III present. Five lateral setae on segment VIII, lateral setae 4 and 5 conspicuous, seta 4 about 70µm long.
Anal segment: Anal lobe ratio 1.6, 1.8 (n=2). Anal lobes without fringe, very rarely with additional teeth laterally or apically. Length of anal macrosetae 0.63-0.69x length of the anal lobe (n=3).

Distribution
Afrotropical species: Circum-Mediterranean.

Ecological notes
Larvae on stones and in moss in fast flowing water: circum-Mediterranean and southwards.
