Macropelopia fittkaui

Diagnosis (Material in coll. ZSM; in part after Fittkau, 1962a - in italics: spec. Schweiz)
Exuviae 7.8-9.3mm long (m=8.7mm, n=8).
Cephalothorax: Thoracic horn 545-680µm long (m=614µm, n=8), truncate apically, with the plastron plate as wide, or nearly as wide, as the maximum width of the horn; attached for its full width to the atrium (010d.jpg); without rim. Length plastron plate 0.32-0.41 of horn length (m=0.34, n=9); plate either circular or transversely rectangular, proximal from centre strongly concave. ThR 1.59-2.17 (n=6). Thorax with well-spaced, regular, transverse grooves from suture. No thorax comb.
Abdomen: Mark on segment I brown or blackish, weakly developed as an upturned U-shaped spot. Conjunctives II/III-VI/VII shagreened. Seta D2 of segment IV anterior to the spinous seta D1 (010g.jpg). Setae D2-5 of segments III-V short and thin, sometimes branched. Anterior lateral taenia of segment VII at 0.17-0.28 of length segment VII (n=9), taeniae 2 and 3 in middle, taeniae 4 and 5 in posterior quart. Anterior lateral taenia of segment VIII at 0.18-0.32 of length segment VIII (n=3).
Anal segment: Anal lobes fringed externally only with hair-like teeth (but may be toothed internally), inner margin distinctly concave. Anal lobe ratio 2.12-2.28 (n=9).
