Zavrelimyia punctatissima

Author: (Goetghebuer, 1934)

Diagnosis
Exuviae 5.4-6.4mm long (n=5).
Cephalothorax: Thoracic horn 363-413µm long (n=6), curved shortly after the base, more or less parallel-sided or widened towards apex, toothed; ThR 4.52-5.33 (n=6) (025d.jpg). Plastron plate very small and offset at horn apex, with a clear rim; plate 10-25x10-18µm (n=6), maximum diameter 0.03-0.06x horn length (n=6), width 1.11-3.33x width neck (n=6), 0.17-0.33x maximum width rim (n=5). Respiratory atrium thin-walled, at most a little undulate marginally; width 0.40-0.46x horn width (n=6).
Abdomen: Anterior lateral taenia of segment VII at 0.4-0.44 of length segment VII (n=5). Anterior lateral taenia of segment VIII at 0.25-0.3 of length segment VIII (n=5). Tergite VIII with shagreen restricted to a posterior median transverse patch, with, or without, a similar anterior patch (N.B. the sternite is nearly covered with spinules except for a median posterior bare area). Pleura of tergites III-V spinulated only for posterior two-thirds to three-quarters.
Anal segment: Anal lobes toothed strongly both externally beyond the lateral taeniae and internally, both margins convexly narrowed to apex. Anal lobe ratio 3.16-3.33 (n=5). Insertion of anterior anal taenia at 0.36-0.42 of lobe length (n=5).

Note: This species and Zavrelimyia hirtimana (Kieffer) are extremely similar and may not be distinct.
