Demicryptochironomus schachti

Diagnosis (Material in coll. ZSM)
Exuviae 3.8-4.9mm long (n=5).
Cephalothorax: Cephalic tubercles 23-30µm long (n=4); frontal setae 20-25µm long (n=4).
Abdomen: Hook row II entire, length of row 0.37-0.50x width tergite; hooks 58-82 (n=5). Tergite II posteriorly with a transverse band of points medially broken by a narrow point-free space; from the posterior band points spread forwards. Tergites III-V with the longitudinal patches more extensive, but always separate posteriorly. Posterior points of tergites II and III large, crowded and dark, producing obvious transverse brown bands on the exuviae. Tergites IV and V without antero-median point patches. Pedes spurii B of segment II absent. Comb of segment VIII of 1-3 short contiguous teeth.
Anal segment: Fringe of anal lobe with 32-51 taeniae (n=5).
