892a. The 4th lateral seta of segment VIII not especially longer than the other lateral setae of that segment. Anal lobe setae 1/6th to 1/4th the length of the lobes (082g.jpg). Pedes spurii B usually not granulate (082f.jpg).

Halocladius variabilis

892b. The 4th lateral seta of segment VIII usually somewhat longer and stronger than the others. Anal lobe setae about 1/3rd the length of the lobes (082e.jpg). Pedes spurii B, especially with the 2nd generation of the year, obviously granulate (082d.jpg).
