672a. Median point patch on tergite IV distinctly smaller than that on VI. Segments III-V with 3 lateral setae, 2 close together anteriorly, the other posterior; additional armament of tergites IV-VI usually weak and sparse, apparently absent under low power (045e.jpg).

Rheocricotopus fuscipes

672b. Median point patch on tergite IV at most a little smaller than on VI. Segments III-V usually with 4 setae, evenly distributed, but often only 3 and occasionally arranged as in fuscipes. Additional armament of tergites IV-VI usually extensive, the points sometimes so strong that the median point patches are somewhat obscured in outline (045b.jpg). 045-1.jpg species overview
