571a. Reticulation covering most of the abdominal paratergites and extensive across tergite I. Tooth row of tergite VII followed by a rough band of small points. Golden exuviae, the anterior and posterior adhesion marks and base of tooth rows golden-yellow; conjunctives colourless.

Diamesa vaillanti

571b. Reticulation detectable in the antero-lateral corners of segments II-VII, evanescent or absent elsewhere. No band of small points behind the tooth row of tergite VII. Pale to bright golden exuviae, the nearly even gold tinge of the segments with little trace of pattern.
