389a. Tergite IV with lateral longitudinal spine bands extending to seta D3; the anterior point patch usually bears spines posteriorly which often spread laterally to join the longitudinal bands (131h.jpg).

Paratanytarsus dissimilis

389b. Tergite IV usually without lateral longitudinal spine bands, but they can be extensive and in extreme cases they are connected anteriorly to the median point patch, which, however, does not have spines posteriorly (131j.jpg).
