Paraphaenocladius intercedens

Diagnosis (after Saether and Wang, 1995a) (Material in coll. ZSM)
Exuviae 2.50-279mm (n=3).
Cephalothorax: Frontal setae and warts absent. Thoracic horn 206-251µm long, 19-23µm wide, 1.96-2.63x as long as longer terminal seta on anal lobe. Precorneal setae 38-75µm long. Median antepronotals 30-75µm long, lateral antepronotals 75µm long (n=1) long. Dorsocentrals each 23-45µm long, distance between setae 1 and 2: 34-60µm, between setae 2 and 3: 101-116µm, between setae 3 and 4: 34-53µm. Wing sheath without nose, with 16-55 pearls.
Abdomen: Tergite I nearly bare, with a few anterior points; II-V with extensive shagreen; less extensive on VI; VII with median and posterior points; VIII with sparse median shagreen. Sternites I-III bare, IV-VIII with posterior shagreen. Shagreen grading over into small posterior spines distinct on tergites VI-VIII and sternites VI-VII (female) or VIII (male).
Anal segment: Tergite IX with very few anteriomedian points; sternite IX bare. Anal lobe apparently without basal seta; 2 terminal setae 90-105µm and 41-56µm long, 4.5-6.0µm (or 6.0-8.0µm at extreme base) and 1.2-2.0µm wide; shorter terminal seta 0.43-0.54x as long and 0.20-0.27x or, at extreme base, 0.25-0.33x as wide as longer seta. Apex of anal lobe with 16-18 spine of which 5-6 are stronger.
