Diamesa pe2

Form described by Langton, 1991

Diagnosis (n=1)
Exuviae 9.5mm long. (This very large exuviae appears to be no more than exceptional in size.)
Colour: Pale to bright golden exuviae, the nearly even gold tinge of the segments with little trace of pattern.
Cephalothorax: Frontal setae 320µm long. Thoracic horn 640µm long; ThR 21. Two precorneal setae only.
Abdomen: Tooth row of tergite II with 15 teeth. Total dorsal teeth 66+. Total ventral teeth 65+. Points of tergite III 9µm long. Reticulation detectable in the antero-lateral corners of segments II-VII, evanescent or absent elsewhere. Usually no trace of armament behind tooth rows II-VII both dorsally and ventrally. Relative length segments IX:VIII:VII = 1.0:1.1:0.74; relative width segments IX:VIII:VII = 1.0:1.7:1.4. Segment VIII 2.3 and segment VII 2.8 times as wide as long. Lateral setae 1-4 of segment III 220; 245; -- 250; (?)µm long.
Anal segment: Anal lobe ratio 1.4. Each anal lobe with 3 macrosetae; length macrosetae 0.7x lobe length.

Note: The pupae of Diamesa bohemani and Diamesa zernyi are apparently very similar. A female pharate adult in ZSM is labelled 'zernyi' and exuviae labelled 'bohemani' cannot be taken to be positively associated, so the slight difference noted between them may have no significance.
