Polypedilum convictum

Author: (Walker, 1856)

Diagnosis
Pupal exuviae of the convictum group without cephalic tubercles, frontal setae short, prealar tubercle absent, conjunctive III/IV without points. (Oyewo and Saether, 1998a)
Exuviae 3.7-4.9mm long (m=4.2mm, n=28).
Cephalothorax: Cephalic tubercles in the form of shallow humps. Frontal setae 80, 90µm long (n=2; tend to fall off). Thoracic horn of a few (about 10) branches, branches much shorter than half the length of the abdomen. Thorax with conspicuously large granules near suture (112b.jpg).
Abdomen: Length hook row II 0.28-0.46x width tergite (n=7); hooks 32-54 (m=42, n=24). Tergites II-VI with obvious anterior transverse bands of points stronger than those of the median patch. Anterior transverse band of points on tergite II widening laterally and spreading posteriorly at each side for a short distance (not very obvious in some specimens) (124h.jpg). Only segment IV with apical band of points. Armament of tergite VII medially interrupted. Sternite I without two antero-lateral armed humps. Pedes spurii B II small but obvious. Vortex present. Segment V with no more than three lateral taeniae.
Anal segment: Fringe of anal lobe with 19-37 taeniae (m=26, n=38).
