Diagnosis (after Hirvenoja, 1973a) (Material in coll. ZSM)
Exuviae about 5mm (reared), up to 6.5mm (freeliving).
Cephalothorax: Cephalic tubercles absent, frontal setae on apotome. Suture rather wide and extensively granulate. Thoracic horn smooth, 21-24µm wide, 130-254µm long.
Abdomen: Pedes spurii B (nearly) absent, hook row II with 76-123 hooks (m=98.0, n=7) in 2-3 transverse rows. Strong shagreen on tergites II-VI, uniformly distributed except on VI. Dorsal setae I-VIII: 3,4,4,5,5,5,5,2; Lateral setae I-VIII: 1,3,3,3,3,3,3,4; Ventral setae I-VIII: 1,3,3,4,4-5,5,5,2; lateral seta 4 on VIII weaker than the other lateral setae.
Anal segment: The 3 anal macrosetae are about half the lenth of the anal lobes.

Distribution
Widespread in Europe, not common.
