Cricotopus obtusus

Diagnosis (Material in coll. ZSM) (after Hirvenoja, 1973a - in italics)
Exuviae 3.5-4.0mm (n=3).
Cephalothorax: Cephalic tubercles absent, frontal setae on frontal apotome. Thorax dorsally smooth; Thoracic horn club-shaped, slightly smaller than in Cricotopus arcuatus, 28-30µm wide, 109-117µm long.
Abdomen: Pedes spurii B II clearly present, though small. Hook row II with 66, 75 (n=2) hooks in two rows. Anterior and posterior transverse bands on tergites III-VI separate or touching, anterior bands overreaching the lateral adhesion marks. Dorsal setae I-VIII: 3,4,4,5,5,5,5,2; Lateral setae I-VIII: 1,3,3,3,3,3,3,4; Ventral setae I-VIII: 1,3,4,4,4,4,4,1, lateral seta 4 of VIII not stronger than the other lateral setae.
Anal segment: Fringe absent; the 3 macrosetae less than half the length of the anal segment.

Finland, northwest Russian Federation.
