Cladotanytarsus pallidus

Author: Kieffer, 1922

Diagnosis
Exuviae 3.2-4.4mm long (n=11); usually very transparent, sometimes a little infuscated.
Cephalothorax: Frontal apotome in the region of the cephalic tubercles usually distinctly granulate. Cephalic tubercles short conical (136i.jpg). Precorneal setae taeniate, inserted on a conspicuous swelling. Antennal sheath base with a large conical projection which may be obscured in some mounts. Thoracic horn 93-138µm long (n=10); ThR 4.2-6.1 (n=7). Thoracic horn seta 60-145µm long (n=9), 0.54-1.1 of horn length (n=8); setae distributed more generally, not restricted to one edge (136j.jpg). Pearl row absent.
Note: Northern examples have strongly granulate frontal apotomes and extensively spiculate or rugose anterior thorax; southern specimens have smooth frontal apotomes and spicules restricted to a narrow band by suture.
Abdomen: Tergites II-VI each with an anterior pair of point patches; ArR II-VI 0.43-0.93 : 0.72-1.03 : 1.0 : 0.87-1.0 : 0.55-0.75 (n=10). Armament tergite IV strong, 70-108µm long (n=8). Comb on postero-lateral corner of segment VIII 60-90µm wide; with 8-14 marginal teeth (n=8) and very few dorsal points. Lateral taeniae of segments V-VIII: 3,3,4,(4)5.
Anal segment: Fringe of anal lobe with 35-50 taeniae (n=11).
