Orthocladius lignicola

Diagnosis (n=3, material in coll. ZSM)
Exuviae 4.2-4.4mm long (074-2.jpg).
Cephalothorax: Thoracic horn 225-270µm long; ThR 8.5-10.8 (074i.jpg). Four dorsocentral setae, the first, third and fourth thick, the second conspicuously thinner.
Abdomen: Tergite II with extensive armament. Hook row II meagre. Tergite III with median and posterior point bands laterally fused (074j.jpg). Pedes spurii B absent.
Anal segment: Anal lobe ratio 2.0-2.2. Anal lobes drawn out posteriorly into an inwardly curved point often with additional teeth laterally or apically. Anal lobes without fringe; anal macrosetae long, flexible and tapering to their tips, length 0.72-0.85x lobe length (074k.jpg).

Distribution
Holarctic species: widespread in Europe.

Ecological notes
Lakes. Larvae feed on submerged wood.
