Diagnosis
Exuviae 2.7-3.5mm long (m=3.1mm, n=11).
Cephalothorax: Thoracic horn reduced to a small tubercle. Precorneal setae small. Thorax more or less smooth.
Abdomen: Tergites generally covered with small points, larger anteriorly. Tergites I(II)-VIII with at least the posterior margin armed with long narrow spines. Posterior long spines IV 41-61 (m=50, n=7), VI 27-51 (m=38, n=7). Longest spine IV 58-65µm long (m=61µm, n=11), VI 53-68µm long (m=62µm, n=11). Paratergite IV armed with small points. Pedes spurii A absent. Lateral setae of segment IV 110-200µm long (m=163µm, n=9). Segment VIII with 5 long lateral setae, fourth seta 120-170µm long (m=145µm, n=6).
Anal segment: Anal lobes smooth, without fringe. Anal macrosetae of anal lobes long, 0.9-1.2x length of the anal lobe (m=1.0, n=9), setae thin and usually curved.
Note: The adult is very like Limnophyes asquamatus, but bears more setae on the thorax. Its status at present is uncertain.
