Diagnosis (Material in coll. ZSM; in part after Hirvenoja, 1973a - in italics)
Exuviae about 7mm long
Cephalothorax: Cephalic tubercles absent; frontal setae on frontal apotome, about 2µm thick. Thoracic horn nearly transparent, smooth, 20-33µm wide (m=26), 258-378µm long (m=320, n=10). Precorneal setae not on conspicuous mounds. Thorax dorsally extensively granulate.
Abdomen: Pedes spurii B on segment II conspicuous (weak). Tergites II-VI with uniform strong shagreen. Hook row II with 105-129 hooks (m=116.1, n=11) in 2-3 transverse rows. Point patches absent on tergites VII and VIII. Dorsal setae I-VIII: 3,4,4,5,5,5,5,2; Lateral setae I-VIII: 1,3,3,3,3,3,3,4; Ventral setae I-VIII: 1,3,3,3,4,4,5,2; lateral seta 4 on VIII weaker than the other lateral setae on VIII.
Anal segment: Anal lobes without fringe. The 3 anal macrosetae clearly shorter than half the length of the anal segment.

Distribution
Holarctic species: Baltic region and north Russia, Romania, north Africa.
