Orthocladius ashei

Diagnosis (in part after Soponis, 1990a - in italics)
Exuviae 2.6-3.8mm long (m=3.3mm, n=14) (073-2.jpg).
Cephalothorax: Frontal warts absent; cephalic tubercles weak. Antennal sheath base without a sharp tooth. Thoracic horn 25-75µm long (n=8), ellipsoid, light brown, clear, stalked (073f.jpg); ThR 1.5-3.8 (n=8). Precorneal setae clumped, seta 1, thick and almost 2x as long as setae 2 and 3. Dorsocentral setae 1-3 conspicuously strong, spine-like, separated by much less than their length (073g.jpg), slightly longer than precorneal seta 1 and thicker. 1 Median antepronotal, 1 lateral antepronotal, Thorax dorsally wrinkled to granulose along eclosion line and anterior to wing base.
Abdomen: Tergites I-III bare; V-VIII with central patches of robust points anteriorly. Tergites IV-VIII with similar posterior transverse bands (073h.jpg), but the points of segments IV-VII larger, darker and fewer. Sternites I, VIII bare; II and III with large central point patch; IV-VII with anterior point patch. Pedes spurii A and B absent. Dorsal setae I-VIII: 2,5,5,5,5,5,5,2; Ventral setae I-VIII: 1,4,4,4,4,4,4,0; Lateral setae I-VIII: 1,2,3,3,3,3,3,2; Od setae I-VIII: 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0.
Anal segment: Anal lobes without fringe. Two very small setae on each anal lobe. Anal lobes greatly reduced; 2 setae on distal half. Genital sheaths extended beyond lobe in male, not in female.
