Conchapelopia melanops

Author: (Meigen, 1818)

Diagnosis
Exuviae 5.9-7.7mm long (m=6.8mm , n=15) (016-1.jpg).
Cephalothorax: Thoracic horn 385-560µm long (m=437µm, n=13); ThR 1.4-2.7 (m=2.0, n=16). Plastron plate large (190x120-315x205µm), its maximum diameter usually over half the length of the horn; without a rim, or if a rim is discernible, it is very narrow (016b.jpg). Plastron plate length 0.44-0.67 of horn length (m=0.55, n=16). Atrium also vague, widening long before its connection to the plastron plate. Thorax tuberculate to the anterior margin. Anterior thoracic granulation extending as far back as the thorax comb. Thorax comb reduced to large rounded or pointed tubercles.
Abdomen: Armament of simple and forked spinules only. Armament of tergite VIII continuous across mid-line. Anterior lateral taenia of segment VII at 0.43-0.55 of length segment VII (m=0.51, n=18). Anterior lateral taenia of segment VIII at 0.41-0.59 of length segment VIII (n=0.49, n=18).
Anal segment: Anal lobe ratio 1.7-2.3 (m=2.0, n=19). Insertion of anterior anal taenia at 0.38-0.49 of lobe length (m=0.43, n=18). No specimens seen without minute teeth on the inner margin of the anal lobes or just dorsal to the margin. (016c.jpg)
